Alyson and her mom Susan recently contacted me about shooting Aly’s high school senior pictures. Aly is a senior at Lee Davis High School in Mechanicsville, VA. I always like to learn as much as I can about my clients before I photograph them. I like to learn their personality, likes, and interests so I can draw those elements out in the photos. After a few emails and a phone call with Aly and her mom, I learned that Alyson likes the outdoors, playing her cello, and reading. Their family is still fairly new to the Mechanicsville area, so I suggested one of my favorite photoshoot locations – Beaverdam Creek Park.
We scheduled the session later in the evening to take advantage of the softer light. We had a couple of ideas in mind going into the shoot and tried a few spur of the moment ideas as well. We created casual images of Aly playing her cello, relaxing against the bridge, and reading in the grass as well as a couple of “dressy” shots. Aly was a great client to work with and open to just about any idea I presented. She was also quite a trooper because it was humid during our shoot.
After sending the photos over to Alyson and her mom, I was excited to receive their response saying they loved the photos. In fact, there’s a strong chance I’ll work with Susan and her family again around Thanksgiving for a full set of family portraits. I’m looking forward to it!
I wanted to share a few shots from Aly’s senior portrait photoshoot. These are just a few of my favorites. It’s definitely that time of the year to start booking your senior pictures photoshoot. Contact me and I’d be happy to learn more about what kind of senior pictures you’re interested in.
